About
hullo. i’m brittany. most people call me “b.”
primarily, i work as a writer, copyeditor, and critic. i’m a part of the Feminist Review editorial collective, blog for Bitch, and help out behind the scenes with Trivia: Voices of Feminism. my writing has appeared in various mainstream and fringe publications. i am currently working on my first zine.
mostly unrelated and less frequently, i work with tiny video, usually of the online variety. i teach web video basics to non-techie folks on a budget, both in schools and at conferences, and i help like-minded radical activists build websites that work for them. until very recently, i co-curated DVblog.
a handful of folks are excited to learn i received concurrent bachelor’s degrees in communication, women’s studies, and psychology, and that i have a master’s degree in media arts. these days, i like the term “recovering academic.”
my partner andreas and i currently spend most of our time copenhagen while we plan our triumphant return to boston. when i’m not writing and doing my usual mix of odd jobs, i might be out taking photos or on the road. you can find out more about my conference plans and previous speaking/screening engagements here.

things about which i am currently concerned, beyond the usual oppressive social problems and our dying world, include:
the prevalence of speciesism
the synergy of the city and empty nesters
when you see two bananas on a styrofoam base wrapped in six layers of plastic – who pays for that in society?
disaster capitalism
monolithic definitions of love and/or marriage
the influence of technophiles
GMOs and patented food
the unfulfilled promises of friendship
digital colonialism
desexualizing book covers
natalism
undoing racism and positive white identity
not being integrated into a burning house
also, i believe in the necessity of furniture and the indispensability of print media.
